Defending Your Bottom Line
Seeger Weiss’ proven experience in commercial litigation allows us to advance our clients’ goals, providing them with the information, guidance, and confidence they need to make well-informed decisions at every step of the process.
We represent our clients in all manner of disputes that arise in a business context, from public companies to private businesses and individuals. Our practice ranges from contract, partnership or joint venture disputes to business torts, antitrust claims, RICO actions, shareholder actions, and securities fraud. We represent clients in class actions as well as individual claims.
Since 1999, Seeger Weiss LLP has helped our clients obtain substantial verdicts in their commercial litigation cases. Recent examples include:
- Seeger Weiss represented a class of several thousand U.S. corn farmers against Swiss agrochemical giant Syngenta AG, over its marketing and commercialization of genetically modified corn seeds. As a member of the Plaintiffs’ Executive and Settlement Committees, the firm secured a nationwide settlement of $1.51 billion, a landmark settlement in U.S. agriculture litigation. The settlement built on the firm’s prior success in two other GMO-related litigations, StarLink and Bayer Rice, which resulted in a $110 million recovery and a $750 million recovery, respectively. Seeger Weiss is the only firm to serve in class leadership in all three GMO cases.
- Seeger Weiss represented thousands of plaintiffs against 309 issuers and 55 investment bank underwriters, including major investment banks like Credit Suisse and Goldman Sachs, in one of the largest and most significant coordinated securities fraud prosecutions in history. As a member of the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee and co-chair of the Plaintiffs’ Legal Committee, the firm helped secure a $586 million settlement.
- Seeger Weiss represented purchasers in a sprawling multidistrict class action against 17 polyurethane foam manufacturers over their price fixing and other antitrust violations. Serving on the Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee, the firm helped secure settlements totaling $428 million.
When a business has a dispute—whether a simple one like a contract gone wrong or a complex one involving antitrust or securities disputes—a seasoned litigation firm like Seeger Weiss can best help recover that business’ losses and protect its interests.
Our experience and reputation allow us to take on well-financed opponents and elite defense firms. We also help our clients address commercial disputes through alternative dispute resolution such as mediation and arbitration, allowing both sides in a dispute to resolve their issues short of litigation, minimizing risk and cost and maximizing benefit.
