Seeger Weiss has been honored with a nomination for the Plaintiffs Firm of the Year award by the National Law Journal, in its announcement of the 2023 Elite Trial Lawyers award finalists. The firm’s Mass Torts and Product Liability practices have also earned finalist spots in their respective categories, reflecting the outstanding performance of Seeger Weiss over the past year, as the firm spearheaded some of the most significant and groundbreaking litigations across the country.
Seeger Weiss holds leadership roles in many of the highest-profile active mass tort and product liability lawsuits, including the National Prescription Opioid Litigation, Elmiron (Pentosan Polysulfate Sodium) Products Liability Litigation, Philips Recalled CPAP, Bi-Level PAP, and Mechanical Ventilator Products Liability Litigation, and the 3M Combat Arms Earplug Products Liability Litigation which is the largest multidistrict litigation in U.S. history. More recently, founding partner Chris Seeger was appointed to serve as co-lead counsel in the Social Media Adolescent Addiction/Personal Injury Products Liability Litigation. Seeger Weiss also continues to represent former NFL players, filing a class action lawsuit against the NFL Disability Plan and Board including NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, on behalf of those who were arbitrarily denied disability benefits.
In addition to the firm-wide nominations, newly-minted partner Caleb Seeley was selected as one of the Rising Stars of the Plaintiffs Bar. Seeley, whose practice focuses on complex litigation involving pharmaceutical injury, medical devices, and dangerous consumer products, has been instrumental in the 3M Combat Arms Earplug multidistrict litigation, contributing to several successful bellwether trial teams representing veterans in their claims against 3M. Particularly noteworthy was his role in the trial of Luke Vilsmeyer’s claims last March, which led to a $50 million verdict. Seeley presented the direct examination of the case-specific causation expert whose testimony explained how 3M’s defective earplugs caused Mr. Vilsmeyer’s injuries, and cross-examined 3M’s case-specific expert who attempted to convince the jury that the CAEv2 were not responsible for Mr. Vilsmeyer’s hearing loss and tinnitus. Seeley was promoted to partner earlier this year. Learn more about Caleb’s accomplished career here.
