This prestigious guide, first published in 2007, seeks to highlight the 500 lawyers whose recent cases, deals and other contributions captured the most important legal matters of the prior year and features attorneys who embody the “hope and promise of America’s legal profession.”

Chris Seeger, co-founding partner of Seeger Weiss, has consistently appeared on the 500 Leading Lawyers in America list since 2007 and was named a “Lawdragon Legend” in 2016. Throughout his career, Seeger has led some of the most complex, groundbreaking, and high-profile litigations in the U.S. He received more MDL appointments than any other lawyer between 2016 and 2019 and currently serves in leadership roles in MDLs including the 3M Combat Arms Earplug Litigation, National Prescription Opiate Litigation, Philips CPAP, Bi-Level PAP, and Mechanical Ventilator Litigation, and Social Media Adolescent Addiction/Personal Injury Litigation.

Stephen Weiss, co-founding partner of Seeger Weiss, chairs the firm’s qui tam/whistleblower practice, representing relators in some of the nation’s largest and most notable cases, including the recent $10 million settlement in a whistleblower lawsuit against medical device company Stimwave. His diverse practice spans high-profile multidistrict litigations, arbitrations, and private business disputes across various legal disciplines, including qui tam/whistleblower, consumer products, insurance, agricultural, environmental, securities, employment, and property rights litigation.

Senior partner Dave Buchanan represents individual and corporate plaintiffs in state and federal courts nationwide. Most recently, Dave was appointed as co-lead counsel for the Self-Funded Payer Track in the In re: Insulin Pricing Litigation. He has also served on the plaintiffs’ steering committee in the 3M Combat Arms Earplug Litigation, the largest mass tort in American history, the plaintiffs’ executive committee in the NFL Concussion Litigation, and was co-chair of discovery as well as lead counsel in several bellwether trials in the Vioxx Litigation.

Partner Parvin Aminolroaya has spent over a decade at Seeger Weiss working on some of the most significant class action and mass tort cases in the country, including the 3M Combat Arms Earplug Litigation, the National Prescription Opiate Litigation, and the Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) Litigation. In 2021, she was appointed to be Co-Lead Counsel in the Elmiron (Pentosan Polysulfate Sodium) Products Liability Litigation, the first woman of color to serve as lead counsel in a multidistrict litigation.

For over a decade, partner Shauna Itri has led litigation teams in complex fraud cases in both state and federal courts. Her practice is focused on representing plaintiffs in various settings, including class action securities and consumer matters and under whistleblower laws.  Currently, Shauna plays an integral role in the Philips CPAP, Bi-Level PAP, and Mechanical Ventilator Litigation, assisting with the discovery process. She also has extensive experience representing whistleblowers in False Claims Act lawsuits, and tax and securities whistleblowers with claims under the IRS and SEC whistleblower programs.

Matt Pawa, a pioneer of environmental litigation for over 25 years, has been involved in crucial environmental cases. Currently, Matt represents Vermont and Maine in litigation against 3M and DuPont for pollution of the state’s land and waters with the PFAS forever chemicals. He recently represented the state of New Hampshire and the Commonwealth of Virginia in litigation against Monsanto for pollution of state waters with PCBs, resulting in settlements worth $25 million and $80 million, respectively.

For over twenty years, Jennifer Scullion has led complex litigations, arbitrations, and appeals for U.S. and multinational clients in a wide array of areas, including antitrust, consumer fraud, communications, civil rights, and international bondholder disputes. Currently, Jen is a member of the Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee, Settlement Committee, Manufacturers’ Committee, and Law & Briefing Committee in the National Prescription Opiate Litigation, multidistrict litigation prosecuting RICO, public nuisance and related claims on behalf of local governments and co-lead counsel for negotiation class.
