RIDGEFIELD PARK, NJ – Seeger Weiss partner Jennifer Scullion has been appointed as co-chair of the Plaintiff’s Steering Committee for the Provider Track by the Honorable Judge Donovan W. Frank in the Change Healthcare, Inc. Customer Data Security Breach Litigation. The multidistrict litigation centralized in the District of Minnesota consolidates nearly 50 class action lawsuits arising from the devastating cyberattack on Change Healthcare on February 21, 2024, which disrupted critical healthcare payment systems nationwide and exposed sensitive patient data.
Following the cyberattack, medical providers, including hospitals, doctors’ offices, clinics, and pharmacies, were left struggling to maintain continuity of care and manage electronic transactions, prescriptions, and billing. The breach also exposed personally identifiable and protected health information of millions of patients to unauthorized access. Plaintiffs allege that Change Healthcare and its parent companies failed to implement adequate cybersecurity measures, resulting in widespread financial harm to healthcare providers and patients across the country.
