Seeger Weiss has been appointed interim Co-Lead Counsel and interim Lead Settlement Counsel in In re Huel Heavy Metal Litigation, a consolidated consumer class action pending in the Eastern District of New York.
The litigation alleges that Huel, Inc. and Huel, Ltd. engaged in fraudulent marketing of their “Huel Black Edition” protein powder product. Plaintiffs who purchased Huel Black Edition, a high-protein meal replacement product, allege that Huel marketed it as a safe supplement while it contained heavy metals, including lead and cadmium.
The firm’s efforts are being led by Seeger Weiss founding partner Stephen A. Weiss and counsel Justin Smigelsky.
As interim Co-Lead Counsel, Seeger Weiss will coordinate all phases of the consolidated action, including discovery, and pretrial proceedings. As interim Lead Settlement Counsel, the firm will serve as the primary point of contact for all settlement discussions and negotiations on behalf of plaintiffs.
