Seeger Weiss is proud to share that Founding Partner Christopher A. Seeger has been appointed Plaintiffs’ Lead Counsel in In re: Class Action Settlement Administration Litigation (MDL No. 3162) by the Honorable Judge John D. Bates of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.

The litigation focuses on how claims administrators, the third-party companies entrusted with notifying class members, processing claims, and distributing hundreds of millions of dollars in settlement funds, are selected, compensated, and supervised. Plaintiffs allege the industry has operated with limited transparency and inadequate oversight, depriving consumers and class members of the full settlement value they were owed.

“It is an honor to be appointed to lead this case. I believe this litigation can help transform an area of practice that has operated largely behind closed doors, by ensuring that claims administrators are finally held to clear, enforceable standards of transparency and accountability,” said Seeger. “Transparency must be the cornerstone of any claims administration process. The public and the courts deserve clear insight into how administrators are selected, how they are compensated, and how those funds are managed. Without that transparency, confidence in the integrity of class action settlements, and in the broader justice system, inevitably suffers. This case is an opportunity to expose how this industry has been operating and to set ground rules that protect consumers and class members nationwide.”

As co-founding partner of Seeger Weiss, Seeger has led some of the most complex and high-profile litigations in the country. He played a pivotal role in securing more than $60 billion in settlements in the National Prescription Opiate Litigation and a landmark $6 billion settlement in the 3M Combat Arms Earplug Products Liability Litigation, the largest mass tort in American history. He also secured a $1.075 billion personal injury settlement, $550+ million economic loss settlement, and $25 million medical monitoring settlement in the Philips CPAP Litigation, as well as a $4.85 billion Vioxx settlement, and a $1 billion-plus uncapped settlement in the NFL Concussion Litigation. Seeger currently serves as Plaintiffs’ Lead Negotiation Counsel in the Johnson & Johnson Talcum Powder Litigation, Lead Counsel in the Depo-Provera Products Liability Litigation, and Plaintiffs’ Coordinating Counsel in the MultiPlan Health Insurance Providers Litigation, among other leadership positions.
