Polyurethane Foam Antitrust Litigation

Flexible polyurethane foam, widely used in furniture, automotive interiors, and carpet underlay, was at the center of a 2010 antitrust investigation. Seeger Weiss co-founding partner Stephen A. Weiss was appointed by the Honorable Jack Zouhary to the Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee in this multidistrict litigation, which combined multiple class actions against 17 foam manufacturers for alleged price-fixing.

Plaintiffs claimed that from 1999 to 2010, these manufacturers conspired to inflate prices, harming buyers nationwide. The litigation secured settlements totaling over $440 million for affected purchasers.
