Seeger Weiss LLP is proud to announce the promotion of Caleb Seeley to partner.
Seeley joined Seeger Weiss as an associate in October 2019, two years after his graduation from New York University Law School in 2017, and following a clerkship at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit after serving briefly as an associate at Williams & Connelly in Washington D.C. He ascended quickly at Seeger Weiss, demonstrating a refined knowledge of the law, impressive work ethic, and unique approach to complex litigation. His promotion comes less than six years after his law school graduation, having proven himself as an elite litigator and essential member of the Seeger Weiss team.
Since joining the firm, Seeley has played key roles in several landmark multidistrict litigations, most notably the 3M Combat Arms Earplug MDL (along with Seeger Weiss partners Chris Seeger and Dave Buchanan, who were both appointed by Judge M. Casey Rodgers of the Northern District of Florida to serve on the plaintiffs’ leadership committee).
Amongst his accomplishments, Seeley was part of several successful bellwether trial teams representing veterans in their claims against 3M. Notably, in the trial of Luke Vilsmeyer’s claims last March, which resulted in a $50 million verdict, Seeley presented the direct examination of the case-specific causation expert whose testimony explained how 3M’s defective earplugs caused Mr. Vilsmeyer’s injuries, and cross-examined 3M’s case-specific expert who attempted to convince the jury that the CAEv2 were not responsible for Mr. Vilsmeyer’s hearing loss and tinnitus. Across multiple bellwether trials, Seeley cross-examined several defense witnesses, including 3M’s primary corporate representative. Before and during trial, Seeley worked with his senior colleagues to design and execute trial strategies, and argumed several crucial contested motions.

Seeley received his law degree from NYU Law in 2017, graduating magna cum laude. He earned membership in the honorary Order of the Coif, was named a Butler Scholar, a Pomeroy Scholar, and won the Judge Rose L. & Herbert Rubin Law Review Prize. Directly after his law school graduation, Seeley spent one year as an associate at Williams & Connolly LLP, where he represented clients in complex federal litigation at the trial and appellate levels, and then clerked for Judge Dennis Jacobs of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Prior to law school, Seeley was a partner in a long/short hedge fund and an equity trader. He earned his undergraduate degree in economics with high honors from Duke University.
At Seeger Weiss, Seeley’s practice focuses on complex individual and class action litigation involving pharmaceutical injury, medical devices, and dangerous consumer products. He contributes to every dimension of these cases, from pre-litigation strategy and discovery negotiations, through depositions, expert development, trial and ultimate resolution.
