“We support the Court’s approval of the Special Masters’ request as they believe it will assist with ‘the prompt payment of all valid claims.’ As we previously told the Court, a Special Investigator will free up valuable resources so that other claims can be processed more efficiently.

“In less than 18 months, 582 claims totaling more than $538 million have been approved — far exceeding the NFL’s estimates of $404 million in the first ten years of the settlement. The evidence is mounting that former players are suffering from neurocognitive ailments at rates even higher than what medical experts previously estimated. We will not allow the NFL to escape this fact and evade its settlement responsibilities by using a small number of potentially fraudulent claims to deny payment to legitimate ones.”
