Seeger Weiss announces the promotion of several of its attorneys. Michael Rosenberg, of Seeger Weiss’s Newark office, and Marc Albert, of the firm’s New York office, have both been promoted from Counsel to Partner. Associates TerriAnne Benedetto, of the Philadelphia office, and Sindhu Susan Daniel, of the Newark office, have been promoted to Counsel.
Michael Rosenberg has been with Seeger Weiss LLP since its inception in 1999 and has managed the firm’s Newark office since its opening that same year. Mr. Rosenberg devotes the majority of his time to representing clients injured by a variety of pharmaceutical products, including Accutane, Zometa, Gadolinium-Based Contrast Agents, Pain Pumps, Ortho Evra, Vioxx and PPA.
Mr. Rosenberg has negotiated individual settlements on behalf of hundreds of clients injured by pharmaceutical products, including various PPA-containing over-the-counter, cough and cold medicines, Baycol, a cholesterol-lowering drug manufactured by Bayer, Ortho-Evra, the birth control patch manufactured by Johnson & Johnson, and Magnevist and Omniscan, gadolinium-based contrast agents manufactured by Bayer and Johnson & Johnson, respectively.
Mr. Rosenberg played an integral role in the settlement of personal injury claims against the manufacturers of Dexatrim, a PPA-containing weight loss product, on behalf of 500 stroke victims who claimed that their strokes were caused by Dexatrim. The settlement is valued at approximately $200 million. Mr. Rosenberg was selected to be a member of the Delaco Trust Advisory Committee tasked with overseeing the administration of the settlement.
Mr. Rosenberg was part of the successful trial teams that won several jury verdicts totaling in excess of $20 million against Hoffman La-Roche, Inc. The Atlantic County, New Jersey juries found that Hoffman La-Roche, Inc. failed to adequately warn the plaintiffs and their doctors about the risk of Inflammatory Bowel Disease associated with Accutane, and that their failure to warn was the proximate cause of the plaintiffs’ Inflammatory Bowel Disease, a permanent condition, shortly after they stopped using Accutane.
Since joining Seeger Weiss in 2003, Marc Albert has played an instrumental role in the firm’s thriving medical malpractice and personal injury practice. During his time with Seeger Weiss, Mr. Albert has been responsible for obtaining numerous multi-million recoveries, both by way of verdict and settlement on behalf of injured clients. In the last year alone, Mr. Albert obtained a $3.25 million recovery on behalf of a 10 year old boy who suffered brain damage as a result of a hospital’s failure to timely diagnose meningitis, a $1.3 million settlement for the wrongful death of a 43 year old woman who tragically died due to neurosurgical malpractice, a $1 million recovery on behalf of a construction worker who was injured at ground zero, and together with Christopher Seeger, a $1.4 million verdict on behalf of a 53 year old woman who suffered a significant ankle injury as a result of a fall at the Met Life Building in Manhattan.
Mr. Albert has been at the forefront of the firm’s involvement in several cases which have received national news coverage. He has been an essential figure in the firm’s representation of 11 victims and their families, including 2 tragic deaths, in the Windsor Wildcats catastrophic bus accident near Rochester, New York. In June, 2009, Mr. Albert together with lead trial counsel Christopher Seeger, guaranteed that Seeger Weiss’s clients would receive 100% of their damages when during trial, they obtained a liability stipulation from the defendants totaling 100% of the fault for the accident. Mr. Albert also represented 11 children who were injured as a result of a widespread pattern of abuse by the staff at an upstate public act school, ultimately bringing that case to conclusion with a confidential seven figure settlement.
Recently, Mr. Albert staunchly represented a 21 year old female client who was viciously assaulted and raped inside a New York City Transit Authority subway station while at least two Transit employees stood by without rendering assistance. Mr. Albert has made several television appearances in connection with the case, including The Today Show, CNN, MSNBC, CBS News and ABC News and has been interviewed by print news sources nationwide. Mr. Albert will continue his work in personal injury and medical malpractice litigation.
TerriAnne Benedetto is counsel to the firm in its Philadelphia office. She concentrates her practice in the areas of complex commercial and class action litigation, including consumer protection, antitrust, products liability and securities litigation. Ms. Benedetto has extensive experience in both personal injury and commercial litigation. Beginning in private practice in 1991, she has represented plaintiffs and defendants in jury and non-jury trials in personal injury cases in both state and federal courts.
Ms. Benedetto has been practicing in the area of complex commercial class action litigation since 1995. She began her career as a complex litigator defending against class action lawsuits in environmental and insurance matters. She was effective in utilizing computer databases in her work and authored Database Technology: A Valuable Tool for Defeating Class Action Certification, which was published in both the Pennsylvania Law Weekly and in a 1998 Mealey’s Litigation Report on Lead.
Thereafter, Ms. Benedetto became involved in complex litigation on behalf of plaintiff classes at a nationally recognized class action/complex litigation firm, where she headed up one of the firms antitrust litigation units. She later became affiliated with another nationally recognized law firm, representing classes of consumers, as well as the Office of the Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in consumer fraud cases. Ms. Benedetto has been involved in numerous class action cases on behalf of plaintiffs, many of which resulted in multi-million dollar settlements. Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Benedetto served as law clerk to the Honorable Jacob Kalish of the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania and the Honorable William W. Vogel of the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas.
Sindhu Daniel joined Seeger Weiss in 2000, and has notably worked on the historic Vioxx cases. She will continue to concentrate her practice on mass tort and complex litigation. Ms. Daniel manages all pharmaceutical injury intake for the firm, some of which includes Yaz, Pain Pump, Gadolinium, Fosamax, Chantix, Accutane, Chinese Drywall, Digitek, Heparin, Paxil, Alli, Zimmer, Hydroxycut, and Oral Phospho-soda. Ms. Daniel worked extensively on the Vioxx settlement and also manages all of Seeger Weiss’ clients in the Vioxx and Bextra/Celebrex settlements.
