Under the terms of a consolidated class action settlement, homeowners who purchased and installed AZEK decking may have been eligible for up to $2000 in compensation as part of an AZEK Decking Lawsuit Settlement.
AZEK Was Not As Advertised
AZEK Decking is a PVC product that was designed for outdoor installation on the decks of residential properties. Homeowners who purchased or paid to have AZEK decking installed became frustrated after they spent tens of thousands of dollars on a deck product that was supposed to wear well and require very little maintenance over the course of the life of the deck. Some homeowners reported that UV radiation from sunlight led to problems with the appearance of the decking. Minimal exposure to products like suntan lotion or bugspray also led to staining.

- Staining
- Fading
- Scratching
- Chalking
- Discoloration
- Impact damage
- Cracking
- Brittleness
Many homeowners who experienced discoloration and other degradation after minimal use and received little assistance from AZEK. After contacting the company, some homeowners reported that maintenance crews were sent to clean and condition defective decks, but were later billed or forced to pay $60 to $100 for an annual condition and still reported that neither option was a longer-term solution.
AZEK Decking Class Action Lawsuit
A number of homeowners filed lawsuits against CPG International LLC and AZEK Building Products Inc., makers of AZEK decking. They claimed that AZEK charged a premium for its advertised qualities which were supposedly better than competitors and paid between $4,200 and $18,500 for installation of their product.
Lawsuits which had been filed in different courts were consolidated into multidistrict litigation (MDL) in a New Jersey federal court. People who had purchased or paid to have AZEK decking installed between August 1, 2007 and December 31, 2012 were eligible to participate in the class action lawsuit which paid 10 percent or up to $2,000 per residential property.
The AZEK Decking Durability Class Action Settlement was granted final approval in April of 2018.
