Ford 5.4L Engine Problems: Defective Systems Lawsuit

January 9, 2013

Seeger Weiss is investigating claims for a class action suit against Ford for allegedly concealing information regarding defects in engines of certain vehicles.  The vehicles at issue include various models manufactured between 2004 and 2008 equipped with 5.4L engines.

It is alleged that the class of vehicles affected suffers from defects in the following systems and components: the Powertrain Control Module; the Transmission Control Module; the Electronic Throttle Control and/or the Throttle Body Assembly.  These defects can result in loss of power and acceleration/deceleration problems.  As such, owners of these vehicles are put at risk because the power failures can occur during normal operation.

It is also alleged that Ford was aware of such defects and resulting effects, as evidenced by their 2008 Technical Service Bulletin which notified dealers of repair procedures to remedy the problems.  However, Ford allegedly concealed from the owners of these vehicles and the public the need to perform these repair services necessary to remedy the engine problems.

It is believed that Ford failed to notify their customers of the repair services to escape contractual responsibility under their express warranty.  At Seeger Weiss, we believe that such behavior is unlawful, and we want to hold Ford accountable for their alleged disregard of their customers’ safety.  So we ask that all owners of 2004-2008 Ford vehicles equipped with 5.4L engines contact us if your vehicle has experienced the problems stated above.  All initial attorney consultations are free of charge.
