Seeger Weiss Reaches $850k Settlement on Behalf of Injured Construction Worker
March 10, 2011
Seeger Weiss LLP announces a $850,000 settlement on behalf of a 31-year-old Brazilian laborer who suffered serious injuries to his cervical spine as a result of a fall from a scaffold to the ground below. The accident occurred while the plaintiff was working for a masonry contractor at a New Jersey State School Construction Authority project. The case was brought in Middlesex County.
It was plaintiff’s position in the case that the defendants, the project's two managing construction companies, failed to ensure that the plaintiff was provided with proper fall protection and equipment, which would have halted the plaintiff’s fall prior to his hitting the ground, and would have allowed him to avoid the serious and permanent injuries he sustained. The case was settled by the parties on the date that Seeger Weiss partners Marc Albert and Moshe Horn appeared before the Court to pick a jury for trial.
