Christopher A. Seeger & David R. Buchanan Named 2007 New York Super Lawyers

Mr. Seeger and Mr. Buchanan have been nationally noticed for their $47.5 million jury verdict this year against Merck & Co. in a Vioxx related personal injury lawsuit. Moreover, Mr. Seeger has been counsel in several high profile cases including the national $700 million settlement from Eli Lilly & Co. related to the use of Zyprexa, and the 2004 nationwide settlement of all PPA related injury claims resulting from the ingestion of Dexatrim. He is regularly appointed to lead counsel and executive committee positions by judges in cases nationwide, and currently co-leads the federal Vioxx Multidistrict Litigation of nearly 27,000 separate cases against Merck & Co. Mr. Buchanan's high profile litigation experience includes local and national leadership roles in the Vioxx litigation, including serving as Liaison Counsel for the 15,000 Vioxx cases pending in New Jersey. He likewise serves as Liaison Counsel for the New Jersey mass tort proceedings concerning the controversial acne medication Accutane. In 2007, Mr. Buchanan co-tried the first Accutane case concerning gastrointestinal injuries, resulting in a $2.6 million award. In addition to his work on pharmaceutical and other mass tort matters, Mr. Buchanan has substantial experience with securities and consumer class actions, including the IPO securities litigation, MCI rates litigation ($88 million settlement) and Apple Computer iMac litigation (settlement valued at $47 million). His deep experience with discovery and trial in complex litigation makes him a frequent appointment to committees leading large multidistrict proceedings.
