Cell Phone Early Termination Fees

Seeger Weiss is prosecuting and investigating claims for potential class action lawsuits against cellular phone companies involving "Early Termination" (ETF) and "Early Cancellation" fees. Cellular phone companies impose these charges when a customer requests a cancellation of service prior to the end of their contracts.

In a recent study conducted by IPSOS North America for the U.S. Public Interest Research Group, 47% percent of cellular customers indicated that they would consider dropping their plan if there were no early cancellation fee. 13% of the customers comprising the same study indicated they would drop their plans immediately. 36% of those surveyed indicated they did not cancel because of the fee.

Virtually all cell phone companies - such as AT&T, Sprint, Cingular, Nextel, T-Mobile, Cellular One - charge such fees.
